It’s that time of year again when we’ve all heard the phrase, “New Year, New You.” While we definitely have mixed feelings about this phrase, we can’t help but point out that not only are we entering a new year, but this year is extra special because we are also celebrating the beginning of a new decade. WOW, 2020! What better way to get yourself organized and really focus on the things that are serving you than with a fresh start into a brand new decade. Leave your past worries and stresses behind, and focus on being the best version of yourself this 2020.

  1. Small Wins

Setting goals for the New Year can sometimes be an overwhelming process. While we appreciate the enthusiasm, we often find that people make goals that are too far out of reach and are unrealistic, which actually ends up creating bigger problems. When people can’t fulfill the goals they set out, they often get discouraged and frustrated and this completely defeats the whole purpose of setting a goal in the first place. Don’t get us wrong, we think the sky’s the limit and we strongly believe that no dream is too small – however we recommend starting with smaller goals that are attainable and achievable in the near future. Do yourself a favour and start small and outline goals that are in reach and increase your motivation and excitement.


  1. Take Action

         You won’t regret this one-stop talking about everything you want to do and start actually doing it. 2020 is going to be all about taking action – no matter how big or small the step is, it is important to just start and actually make actionable progress towards you goals. We understand that the first step can always be the hardest, but once you get the ball moving, you will see that taking action becomes a lot less daunting and more addicting because you will see the progress and feel more accomplished by completing your goals.


  1. Declutter

There is no better feeling than doing a deep cleanse in your household and getting rid of everything that no longer serves you. Trust us, you won’t regret this and you will feel a hundred times better because you will no longer be surrounded by clutter or useless items that just take up unwanted space. This especially holds true for your closet and we recommend giving your closet a little TLC for the New Year. Start by removing all the items in your closet and then create piles for the items you want to keep, donate or sell. Tip – if you are having trouble parting with some of your belongings, ask yourself when was the last time you wore or used the item. If it has been longer than eight months, chances are you won’t wear it and your best option is to either donate or sell the items.   1. Make an Agenda

Creating a timetable or agenda is a great way to keep yourself organized and accountable for the New Year. We find that by writing things down and making a list of everything you need to finish or work on helps you to stay on track. Also, the sheer pleasure of crossing things off your agenda or list is very rewarding and is also a great trick to stay motivated and to continue to get things done. Whether you want to use an electronic or physical planner is up to you, but we highly recommend staying organized by creating lists and writing everything down so you don’t forget important deadlines.
